Look out for unauthorized resellers

If you find products on other sites beyond our Lapcozy.comSite, Etsy, or Amazon then likely it is a reseller.

Over the past few years we have been noticing more and more shipments going to addresses with the same fake phone number. It turns out that those folks are buying their product for way more than what they sell for on our sites. What these sellers are doing is taking your order and just ordering it for less right from a site you could buy from at a lower price. It is not illegal if their site is registered as a reseller or affiliate of Amazon.

Not long ago I found a listing for our LapCozy on a strange named website, they had it with all our details, even the Patent numbers displayed, but selling it for $25 more than any listing we had. Our guess is that they were shipping to themselves or forwarding the shipments to new addresses. These companies will say they are resellers or arbitrage selling and will also sell on Ebay. Reselling is not illegal.

These companies also buy returned goods or try and buy things from defect or seconds listings and resell as the normal good quality.

Another new trend is that these sites will sell to you and never actually ship anything and there is not much you can do because they are overseas. (I fell for this a few years ago myself when I bought a really cool ceiling fan for our house). Luckily we used a credit card with some buyer protections, so we got our money back. But many don’t.

So when buying things on the internet, check the manufacturer site to make sure you are getting the best deal.

Remember, if the deal feels too good to be true, it probably is too good to be.

Shop safe.
