ABOUT LAP COZY

The Lap Cozy is Proudly Made in the USA and we hire and work with business who follow fair employment practices.

Brent and Jen Chapman invented Lap Cozy in 2012 when Jen was taking hours of online training courses at home and our cat Caesar insisted on being in her lap.

Caesar likes to knead when he is happy and content and Jen was constantly trying to use blankets, pillows, or anything else that she could find to keep her legs from being punctured by his sharp claws.
The problem was that none of these fixes stayed in place very well.

Although keeping Caesar on her lap was challenging due to his kneading claws and balancing challenges, Jen realized over time that Caesar was actually helping her to relax during testing.

There had to be a better way to bring Jen and Caesar together and we were determined to find it.
We soon realized that a solution did not exist in pet stores or online and we set out to create a pet bed that fits on your lap.

A draft was drawn on scratch paper, foam blocks were hand cut again and again to get the fit and softness just right, a simple fabric cover was stitched around the foam, and we eventually had a working lap pet bed for Caesar and Jen to use.

Soon requests started coming in from other people who had heard about our new lap pet bed and wanted us to make one for them as well. We quickly found out that there was a much stronger need for this product than we could ever produce in our garage shop, so the time had come to find a manufacturer to help us make it available to everyone. The Lap Cozy was born!
